The query language setting can be set for a given query to govern the language of the mode's metadata and query results in a specific Discover report. This allows customers to show the same report in multiple languages - appropriate for each user on the system. Once set, the setting will drive the report and its subsequent usage in the platform.
Note: Multilingual data models are only supported on Microsoft Multidimensional and Tabular, SAP BW and HANA models, cubes and views. They are NOT supported in Pyramid models.
Changing Languages
To change languages on a relevant data model the user can use the drop down to pick from several choices - that are heuristically driven based on the technology and the original cube's own settings and options (see below). In the event a language is not shown, the user can click the 'more' option to see a full listing of all languages. If the language is supported, the results will change to that language, otherwise, the default is returned.
Heuristic Language Options
- Default Language:This options opens the underlying cube or model without specifying a language - and in effect returns the metadata and queries the model's default language as defined in the data source.
- Application Language: This options opens the underlying cube or model by using the same language in which Pyramid is running. This attempts to load the model in the current user's preferred language. If the language does not exist, the underlying technologies may return the default language or may throw an error.
- Other Language Choices: For Microsoft OLAP and Tabular, Pyramid can read the other languages supported in the model's definition. These are listed here so the user can easily swap to a supported language.
If these options do not suffice, then the user can choose a language from the "more" dialog, in the event the cube or model supports it.
User Defaults
The preferred language choice from the heuristic options can be driven from the 'user defaults' capability in the admin console and/or in the user's personal default settings (or both). In user defaults, the user can elect to use the 'default' or 'application' option described above.
